Robert KALBACH

Secondary education in Rochefort, Lycée P. Loti. University education : Poitiers, Oxford, Heidelberg.

Recently retired, he was a lecturer for British civilization at the University of Poitiers. At the same time, he headed for fifteen years (1967-1982) the “Institut d’Etudes Françaises de La Rochelle”, a summer College for foreign students. In the meantime he had been elected as deputy-mayor in charge of cultural and international affairs (1977-1982) assisting his mayor and friend, Michel Crépeau.

In 1982, he was appointed as a scientific anc cultural Councillor at the French embassy in Vienna, Austria. He was next appointed in the same function at the French embassy in East-Berlin (1988-1992), in the late German Democratic Republic, where he had the opportunity to witness the fall of the Berlin wall.

Jean-Luc Gireaud
Jean-Luc GIREAUD

Secondary education in Rochefort, Lycée P. Loti. University education : Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Maisons Alfort. He graduated as doctor in medicine at the University of Paris.

Beside being a professional veterinary surgeon, Jean-Luc GIREAUD took it to task to help improving things in his city. Between 1971 and 1997, he fulfilled five successive mandates as deputy-mayor in charge of havens administration and communication, assisting his mayor and friend, Jean-Louis FROT.
